PostSubject: Psychic Build   Mon Oct 03, 2011 3:53 pm

A psychic is a fast spellcaster with low generally low HP. They are cheap and can be a back up healer if necessary.

Attribute Points:

MAG - This is your main stat, it should be the highest.

STR - This is your secondary stat, you need 0.5 STR per level to equip your weapon.

VIT - This increases your HP recovery rate, keep it as low as possible if not left alone. I recommend a base of 10-20 if you're unfunded.

DEX - This stat is almost completely useless to you. If you choose to go light armor, you put some into it.

Builds:

Pure Mag: This is the best build if you're funded and want high damage and high heal. If you get extra Str from equips other than your weapon, you can put into Mag instead to add more damage.

9 Mag 1 Str every two levels

Hybrid: This is probably the most common build. Most with this build cap their Vit at anywhere from 10-30, but the lower the better unless you die a lot.

6 Mag 1 Str 3 Vit every two levels

Light Armor: This is sacrificing damage for defense instead of adding Vit (HP) in normal builds. I would assume they will cap their Str and Dex somewhere.

6 Mag 2 Str 2 Dex every two levels

Skills:

Water Tree:

Aqua Impact - Max this, good grinding attack.

Black Voodoo - Main buff used in grinding, max asap.

Torrent - DoT skill, not really necessary. (DoT = Damage over Time)

Bubble of Life - AoE version of cleric's main healing skill, worth leveling with spare points if you party a lot.

Aqua Cannon - Pretty good AoE attack.

Glacial Shards - AoE attack, worth leveling after your main attacks. (AoE = Area of Effect)

Empowered Vigor - Maxed, good for parties.

Disturb Soul - Good when fighting AoE bosses, max it if you party a lot.

Tide Spirit - Bad damage, but reduces channeling times, not recommended.

Red Tide - Strongest damage dealing skill with bleed effect (DoT). Max.

Earth Tree:

Spirit Blast - Max this, good grinding attack.

White Voodoo - Not very good, but can be used in some situations. Keep at one unless you like it.

Landslide - Good knockback, max this early.

Sand Trap - DoT skill, not really necessary.

Diminished Vigor - Pretty useless, left at one.

Sandburst Blast - AoE skill, good to max after your main attacks.

Soulburn - Good skill to max after main attacks.

Earth Vector - AoE stunning skill, very nice max with extra points.

Psychic Will - At least level one, max if you think 3 seconds more is worth it.

Support Tree:

Soul of Vengeance - One point is enough for this skill.

Soul of Stunning - Again kept at level one since leveling doesn't do much for this skill.

Soul of Silence - Kept at level one.

Soul of Retaliation - Kept at level one.

Other:

Essential Sutra - Oooh, fly faster. Really? Probably not worth your points.

Aqua Spirit - Very good, but costly. Advise getting one point and waiting until 40s to level more.

Earthen Spirit - Very good, but costly. Advise getting one point and waiting until 40s to level more.

Tide Form - JUNK! Can only use normal attack and must be underwater.

Crystal Light - Optional.

Sandball Clash - Optional.

Stone Smasher - Optional.

White Voodoo sucks? I thought it's good to buff it whenever you don't familiar with the mobs cause then, you wont die as quickly as you would with black voodoo..

and I want flying skill plz.. Jumping in this game really suck.. I got stuck between terrain and had to press that F8..

The flying skill just makes it so you fly faster, it doesn't give you flying. You get it/earn it at level 30. And I'm unsure about white voodoo, but so far I've put a point into every skill to try it out, if I like it or if it does good damage then I put more into it. By about level 40-50 ish you should have tons of spirit points from boss runs, so the only thing holding you back would be funding and apparently Psychics are cheap, so you should be fine if you wanna add into, but probably not until after you max your attacks.

Psychs are cheap cause they are not favorable at higher level imo.. Never seen a psych actually wanted for FC.. (generally all mage classes are never wanted, except for cleric being healbot)..

I haven't tried out other classes though.. Starts running outta quests at 18 now.. Any recommendation for decent melee classes?

and I died once underwater (and again died at 89%).. Got rhaped by bunch of bone fishies.. They are auto-aggro and come in mobs..

Currently at lvl 18, I have:
Aqua Impact = lvl 4
Spirit Blast = lvl 4
Black Voodoo = lvl 2
White Voodoo = lvl 1
Soul of Veng = lvl 1
Tide Form = lvl 1

With skill builds I have, I generally kill mobs 3 levels within my level in 2-3 hits if they are unbuffed.. I also did pure magic since I despise having any points in hp.. Points in hp gonna lower my damage, takes longer to kill mobs.. Plus this class is a glass cannon, defense doesn't help much..

Looks like you're doing good. Having fun, I hope.

Blademaster is the strongest close range melee class.
Seeker... I'm unsure seems very average, lots of buffs and debuffs, I think?
Barbarians aren't meant to be attackers for the most part, they're meant to hold boss's attention while others attack, so that the cleric only needs to heal one person--the barb. They tend to have minimum Str and Dex for their weapons and the rest in Vit.

I'll probably post more builds tomorrow.

Lol no, I'm terribly boring playing solo D:

Also, a psych and a barb wouldn't be too good together.. Most psych moves draw aggro (from what I've read).. and psych is the class that has the most terrible defense with black voodoo..

Just a note for myself:

every lvl 29 skills (minus spark) requires 11.8k spirits and 15k coins.. Upgraded skills cost nearly 9k-ish spirits..

I have 50k-ish spirits left after black voodoo lvl 4 and landslide lvl 3..

Can only do 4 more new skills or 3 more new skills + bubble of life:
Soul of Stunning?
Aqua Spirit?
Earthen Spirit?
Aqua Cannon?
Sand Trap?

I, who only know what others have told me in guides, would recommend Bubble of Life, Soul of Stunning, Aqua and Earthen Spirit.

Obviously Bubble is your only heal skill, you want it.
Soul of Stunning may help against enemies that are too tough for you, stun them so they can't move towards you quite as fast.
Aqua Spirit improves your damage with water spells.
Earthen Spirit improves your damage with earth spells.

And just a level or maybe two after that you should be able to put a point into the other skills as long as you still have points for your main attacks that is.

Just my two cents from the little knowledge that I've acquired.

Soul of stunning as of now, only stun for 1 second due to my crap soulforce.. Increases by 1 second for every 5k soulforce..

Bubble of Life is tough to use when u got chased by mobs.. They just keep cancel your channeling.. Running away from mobs + using hp pots is better..

Aqua Cannon and Sand Trap as you posted on the guide are junks.. However, they are needed for next skills such as Glacial Shard and Sandstorm.. So, level 1 is a must for cannon and trap..

I have around 97k spirits now.. Can technically have everything lol..

Bubble of Life mostly used in parties, I'd assume. Erm, squad, I really should get used to the new terminology. D:
And yeah, so many skills you need to get just to continue down the tree, but on the other hand some classes (like cleric) have a ridiculous amount of necessary skills while others (like seeker) have like almost no necessary skills other than attacks. I wish that Spirit Points were trade-able. A friend of Adam's is lv100 and said she had like 500k Spirit Points and I think she had all her skills maxed that she could.

I don't have that much skills tbh.. The 2 original skills in water and earth tree is the main attack (always all the way).. Landslide is pretty good dmg, but the range is total crap.. It is used mostly when mobs gets too close (same thing like archer knockback skill).. Soulburn supposedly have rhape dmg, but the channeling is slower or so and too predictable in pvp..

More info about Psych:

Soulforce = level * (level + 50) + bonus from refining

*Level refers to character's level
*Soulforce is exclusive to psychic, other classes will not have soulforce

For example: lvl 32 psychic with 0 bonus in refining
*Soulforce = 32 * (32 + 50) + 0 = 2624
*Soulburn damage = soulforce = 2624
*Level 1 soul of vengeance reflects 8% damage of soulforce = 8% * 2624 = 209 (rounded down)
*Level 1 soul of stunning = 1 second duration (every 5,000 soulforce increases the stun duration by 1 second)
*Level 1 soul of retaliation reflects and absorb damage by halved soulforce amount
= 2624 / 2 = 1312
*Level 1 soul of silence (not sure how the calculation goes, gonna try that at level 39). But the rough number = 1.57% success rate

Correction to Tide Form:

Tide Form is a passive skill.. What the skill does is increases swimming speed by certain speed (depends on the level).. No, it doesn't have anything to do with using only normal attack.. It doesn't have any relation to attacking skill and whatnot, it doesn't do damage..

It doesn't make any difference tbh.. (at least at lvl 1)

Tideform isn't a must skill.. In fact, getting it at 0 point wouldn't prevent me to get other skills since tideform doesn't branch into anything (not a pre-req for anything)..

Some missing descriptions (those that are not listed on the skill description):

*Damage from Soul of Vengeance, Soul of Retaliation, and Soulburn is based on the user's soulforce and the physical defense of the enemy.
*Soul of Retaliation does not reflect a DoT poison. I've done a test on those poison mobs in BH 79. I put SoR on and the poison never reflects back. It might have been that it has to be a direct damage. A good test would be to duel my Mystic and have my Mystic casts Swirling Mist on Psychic. Another Psychic needs to use Torrent/Sand Trap and see if I can reflect those as well.

Swirling Mist = deals basic wood damage followed by poison DoT
Torrent/Sand Trap = deals only water DoT/earth DoT
