[G0.0] Introduction

Big Bang is finally here and most of us know near to nothing about it! My name is Necro and I'm here to help you (and myself) figure out this new world. I've been playing this game on and off since 2005 and in all time I've been around there has never been a better opportunity for me to share my knowledge with the rest of the Maple community. This guide is still under construction and I will update it often as I learn more about the change, hope you find it useful end enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writting it!

-------------------------------

[G0.1] Pros & Cons

In most to least significant order!

[G0.1.1] Pros

* Very efficient at bossing even before 4th job (and especially after).
* Applies very balanced damage and relatively high raw damage.
* 3rd job Brandish! Getting to 120 is no longer a nightmare.
* Very "lonewolf" type of charatcer, can train efficiently without a party.
* Very effective against small powerful mobs.

[G0.1.2] Cons

* Low mobility, slow movement. Like most Warriors.
* Can be easily ksed by a ranged or an AoE based job like a Nightlord or an Evan.
* Expensive and "hard to find" mastery books.
* Not as good at massive mobbing as other warriors.
* Lacking good party skills compared to the other warriors/characters.
* Somewhat repeatative and not very challenging gameplay.

-------------------------------

[G0.2] Character Stats

The Ability stat will be a crucial part of your charatcers attack range, hit rate, defense and pretty much all of your combat related tactics.

Strength(STR): Determines HP, Weapon Defense and Attack's power for most melee jobs, this will be your main ability, pour your ability points in here.

Dexterity(DEX): Determines Weapon Accuracy and Attack's power for some ranged jobs, unfunded or low budget warriors may want to put a small amount of ability points in here to compensate for lack of accuracy, others will want to avoid it. Due to major changes in the Accuracy Formula, this ability is not as essential for warriors as it used to be pre big bang, see more details in this thread.

Intelligence(INT): Determines Magic defense, Mana and Attack's power for magic based jobs, you do not need this ability, avoid it.

Luck(LUK): Determines avoidability, Magic accuracy, the amount of EXP you lose when you die and attack's power for thieves, you do not need this ability, avoid it.

-------------------------------

[G0.3] Types of Weapons

[G0.3.1] Swords and Axes

This discussion is no longer as relevant as it was Pre-Big Bang as all skills work for both weapons now, so all you got to do is switch!

Before the Big Bang, Axes were slightly stronger yet unstable because they were affected by Slash/Stab damage. Forget about it, it doesn't exist anymore.

Slash/Stab Damage is now cancelled, which means that Swords and Axes are pretty much the same now - the Formulas.

Two-Handed Axe: 1.32*(4*STR+DEX)*(Weapon Attack/100)
Two-Handed Sword: 1.32*(4*STR+DEX)*(Weapon Attack/100)

As you can see, the there is no actual difference between Swords and Axes anymore. Obviously with Axes usually being much cheaper than Swords you can easily get an Axe with a much higher attack than a Sword for the same money, but that is for another discussion.

Off the record, the removal of Slash/Stab damage worked really bad for hardcore Axe Heroes as Intrepid Slash's animation is 2 Slashes and a Stab, which would ultimately make Axes much better than Swords in any case. Too bad I guess?

[G0.3.2] One-Handed and Two-Handed

Not much has changed in this department, One-Handed Weapons are still significantly weaker than Two-Handed Weapons and have a shorter range with some moves, One-Handed Weapons are usually faster than Two-Handed and allow you to equip a Shield. The Formulas are -

One-Handed Axe: 1.20*(4*STR+DEX)*(Weapon Attack/100)
One-Handed Sword: 1.20*(4*STR+DEX)*(Weapon Attack/100)

Going Weapon and Shield is NOT recommended before your Brandish is at a level which may allow you to use it as an active skill (preferably, not before Lv15), also, in my opinion it is not recommended to go Weapon and Shield unless you can afford a good attack Shield that can compensate for the lower range, which is quite expensive. The extra Weapon Defense is not really a factor. Choosing a One-handed Sword or an Axe has no actual significance beyond esthetics, it is ALL about the Weapon's speed.

-------------------------------

[G0.4] Skills List

Your skills are active, supportive or passive moves that your entire gameplay will be based on, costumizing your skill build in a good way that will also be comfortable for you is vital for your training.

Importance:
★★★★★ - This skill is crucial for any build, DO NOT SKIP IT.
★★★★ - This skill is mandatory, but maxing it can be postponed under certain circumstances.
★★★ - This skill is helpful, but other skills should be maxed before.
★★ - This skill is fine if you've got nothing else to max.
★ - This skill is nearly useless, avoid it.

Types of Skills:
Active:Single - An active skill that delivers damage to one enemy
Active:Mob - An active skill that damages multiple monsters infront of you at once
Active:AoE - An active skill that damages multiple monsters at a certain radius regardless of your direction.
Active:Effect - An active skill that applies or may apply a certain status effect on it's target/s.
Supportive:Solo - A supportive skill that will enhance your own powers.
Supportive:Party - A supportive skill that will enhance you and your party's powers.
Passive:Offensive - A passive skill that effects your power in a certain way during combat.
Passive:Defensive - A passive skill that grants or enhances bodily related powers.

[G0.4.1] Swordman Skills Tier (1st job)

HP Boost (Passive:Defensive)
Importance: ★★★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max level: 10
Lv1: HP +2% || Lv10: HP +20%
Description: Permanentally increases your HP, with +20% of your total HP when maxed this is probably the most important skill in this tier.

Iron Body (Supportive:Solo)
Importance: ★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max level: 20
Lv1: MP -8, W. Defense +10 for 110 seconds || Lv20: MP -14, W. Defense +200 for 300 seconds.
Description: Increases your Weapon Defense when activated, this once overlooked skill now boosts no less than 200 Weapon Defense when maxed, very useful at higher levels.

Power Strike (Active:Single)
Importance: ★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max level: 20
Lv1: MP -5, 165% Damage || Lv20: MP -11, Damage 260%.
Description: Uses MP to deliver a powerful blow to a monster, this will be your main 1 vs 1 skill for a while.

Slash Blast (Active:Mob)
Importance: ★★★★ || Pre-requisite: Power Strike Lv.1 || Max level: 20
Lv1: MP -6, 85% Damage || Lv20: MP -14, 180% Damage.
Description: Uses MP to strike up to 6 monsters within it's range at once, this will be your main mobbing skill for a while.

-------------------------------

[G0.4.2] Swordman Skills builds (1st job)

NOTE: Make sure to read the build's description before applying the skills on yourself, a build that suits me or anyone else may not always suit you!

Build 1 - Defensive (Recommended)
+1 Power Strike (Lv1)
+1 Slash Blast (Lv1)
+19 Slash Blast (Lv20, maxed)
+11 Power Strike (Lv11)
+10 HP Boost (Lv10, Maxed)
+20 Iron Body (Lv20, Maxed)
At lv30 you will have: Lv10 HP Boost, Lv20 Iron Body, Lv11 Power Strike, Lv20 Slash Blast.

Description: This is DEFINITELY the build you should take if you're already lv70+ and just reset your skills. In this build you sacrifice points from Power Strike in order to max Iron Body. Power Strike will be entirely replaced at 3rd job and is not very essential for training even before while maxed Iron Body is always useful. For more experienced players - Feel free to mess around with the Skill Points allocation on Slash Blast and Power Strike as long as in the end Iron Body is maxed.

Build 2 - Offensive
+1 Power Strike (Lv1)
+1 Slash Blast (Lv1)
+19 Slash Blast (Lv20, Maxed)
+19 Power Strike (Lv20, Maxed)
+10 HP Boost (Lv10, Maxed)
+11 Iron Body (Lv11)
At lv30 you will have: Lv10 HP Boost, Lv11 Iron Body, Lv20 Power Strike, Lv20 Slash Blast.

Description: This build is somewhat more recommended for new players, following this build will also mean that you may want to max Enhanced Basics over Ground Smash and get to max Iron Body at a much later stage.

-------------------------------

[G0.4.3] Fighter Skills Tier (2nd job)

Weapon Mastery (Passive:Offensive)
Importance: ★★★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max Level: 20
Lv1: Sword and Axe mastery 12%, Accuracy +3 || Lv20: Sword and Axe Mastery 50%, Accuracy +60
Description: Increases the weapon mastery of Swords and Axes or in other words increases your minimal damage and by that making your damage more stable, along with the generous accuracy bonus this is the most important skill in this tier.

Final Attack (Passive:Offensive)
Importance: ★★★★ || Pre-requisite: Weapon Mastery Lv3 || Max Level: 20
Lv1: Success rate 2%, Damage 100% || Lv20: Success rate 40%, Damage 150%
Description: By a certain success rate the monsters you attack will deal additional damage after an attack with an Axe or a Sword. This skill has changed considerably, it will no longer take time perform a Final Attack, the damage will appear after a normal attack without a character animation, which basically means that you get free damage after an attack that won't delay your next one. Also, Final Attack now works with every active skill, not just 1st/2nd job ones. Pure DPS boost, very recommended.

Enhanced Basics (Passive:Offensive)
Importance: ★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max Level: 10
Lv1: Power Strike + 12% damage, Slash Blast +7% damage || Lv10: Power Strike +120% damage, Slash Blast +70% damage.
Description: Improves the damage of Power Strike and Slash Blast, can be put to good use in certain builds.

Weapon Booster (Supportive:Solo)
Importance: ★★★★★ || Pre-requisite: Weapon Mastery Lv5 || Max Level: 20
Lv1: MP -30, Doubles your attack speed for 10 seconds || Lv20: MP -11 Doubles your attack speed for 200 seconds.
Description: Doubles your attack speed with an Axe or a Sword, obviously the best supportive skill in this tier. Get it above lv11 for maximal results at ANY case.

Rage (Supportive:Party)
Importance: ★★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max Level: 20
Lv1: MP -5, Weapon Attack +1 for 60 seconds || Lv20: MP -20, Weapon Attack +20 for 155 seconds
Description: Improves Weapon Attack for you and party members near by. A good attack boost for you and your party, save your warrior elixirs money.

Power Guard (Supportive:Solo)
Importance: ★★★★ || Pre-requisite: Rage Lv3 || Max Level: 20
Lv1: MP -10, Reflects 12% Damage for 20 seconds Lv20: MP -20, Reflects 50% Damage for 100 seconds
Description: Reflects a certain percentage of the damage taken back to the enemy. A very good defensive skill especially for a melee job, it becomes mandatory only at higher levels so don't be in a hurry to get it.

Ground Smash (Active:Mob)
Importance: ★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max Level: 20
Lv:1 MP -6, Damage 186% || Lv20: MP -15, Damage 300%
Description: Sends a powerful shockwave that attacks up to 3 enemies in it's way. This move is not as powerful as Power Strike and can't hit as many enemies as Slash Blast, but it's a perfect compensation between them especially if you didn't max them in your 1st job build. In some way, this skill is like a mini Brandish. Good for certain builds.

-------------------------------

[G0.4.4] Fighter Skills builds (2nd job)

NOTE: Make sure to read the build's description before applying the skills on yourself, a build that suits me or anyone else may not always suit you!

Build 1 - Booster Sacrifice
+1 Ground Smash (Lv1)
+20 Weapon Mastery (Lv20, Maxed)
+11 Weapon Booster (Lv11)
+19 Ground Smash (Lv20, Maxed)
+10 Enhanced Basics (Lv10, Maxed)
+20 Final Attack (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Rage (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Power Guard (Lv20, Maxed)
At lv70 you will have: Lv20 Weapon Mastery, Lv20 Final Attack, Lv10 Enhanced Basics, Lv11 Booster, Lv20 Rage, Lv20 Power Guard, Lv20 Ground Smash.

Description: This is more all less your default build. It is not recommended if you're already over lv70 as you'll be sacrificing Max Weapon Booster for skills you're never going to use anymore like Enhanced Basics or Ground Smash. For anyone else, maxing Booster is not really essential as higher skill level only adds a longer duration time and doesn't improve the skill in any way, it is for you to decide if you prefer comfort over faster 2nd job training.

Build 2 - Ground Smash
+1 Ground Smash (Lv1)
+20 Weapon Mastery (Lv20, Maxed)
+11 Weapon Booster (Lv11)
+19 Ground Smash (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Final Attack (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Rage (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Power Guard (Lv20, Maxed)
+9 Weapon Booster (Lv20, maxed)
+1 Enhanced Basics (Lv1)
At lv70 you will have: Lv20 Weapon Mastery, Lv20 Final Attack, Lv1 Enhanced Basics, Lv20 Booster, Lv20 Rage, Lv20 Power Guard, Lv20 Ground Smash.

Description: This build is recommended if you are already over lv70 or if you chose "Build 1 - Defensive" for your 1st job tier. In this build you will give up Enhanced Basics and basically rely on Ground Smash as your main active skill until 3rd job. A good choice, but a bit repeatative.

Build 3 - Enhanced Basics
+1 Ground Smash (Lv1)
+20 Weapon Mastery (Lv20, Maxed)
+11 Weapon Booster (Lv11)
+10 Enhanced Basics (Lv10, Maxed)
+20 Final Attack (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Rage (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Power Guard (Lv20, Maxed)
+9 Weapon Booster (Lv20, Maxed)
+10 Ground Smash (Lv11)***
At lv70 you will have: Lv20 Weapon Mastery, Lv20 Final Attack, Lv10 Enhanced Basics, Lv20 Booster, Lv20 Rage, Lv20 Power Guard, Lv11 Ground Smash.

This build is also recommended if you are already over lv70 or if you chose "Build 2 - Offensive" for your 1st job tier . In this build you will give up maxing Ground Smash for maxed Enhanced Basic, which leaves you with very powerful Power Strike and Slash Blast as your main active skills.
***Most players would want to max Iron Body and Get only Lv2 Ground Smash if they didn't max Iron Body yet.

-------------------------------

[G0.4.5] Crusader Skills Tier (3rd job)

Improve MP Recovery (Passive:Defensive)
Importance: ★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max Level: 20
Lv1: MP +2 every 4 seconds || Lv20: MP +40 every 4 seconds
Description: Recovers a small amount of MP every 4 seconds even during combat. This skill will save a bit of your MP potions cost which should already be low anyway.

Chance Attack (Passive:Offensive)
Importance: ★★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max Level: 20
Lv1: 106% Damage || Lv20: 125% Damage
Description: Deals more damage on frozen, blinded or stunned enemies. Combined with Shout's and Coma's stun this skill can be quite useful.

Combo Attack (Supportive:Solo)
Importance: ★★★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max Level: 20
Lv1: -22 MP, Max Orbs 3, 1% Damage per orb for 100 seconds || Lv20: MP -34, Max Orbs 5, 5% Damage per orb for 200 seconds
Description: For as long as this skill is active, you will be able to charge up to 5 orbs that will circle around you, every monster you kill with charge one orb. Each orb will increase your total damage by a certain percentage, you may also sacrifice orbs in order to unleash powerful moves and then charge up new orbs. This skill is the secret behind the Crusader's damage and your new best friend.

Panic (Active:Single)
Importance: ★★ || Pre-requisite: Combo Attack Lv1 || Max Level: 20
Lv1: MP -10, 290% Damage per Orb, 33% success rate to blind an enemy for 5 seconds || Lv20: MP -20, 480% Damage per Orb, 90% success rate to blind an enemy for 9 seconds.
Description: Sacrifice Combo orbs to land a hit on one monster that deals enormous damage. This is a very flashy attack, deals huge damage numbers, but not very useful for your training and not as useful for bossing as it used to be now that Brandish is a 3rd job skill. Maxing it can be delayed for a while.

Coma (Active:Mob)
Importance: ★★★★ || Pre-requisite: Combo Attack Lv1 || Max Level: 20
Lv1: MP -12, 248% Damage per orb, 33% to stun a monster for 2 seconds || Lv20: MP -22, 400% Damage per orb, 90% to stun a monster for 4 seconds
Description: Sacrifice Combo orbs to strike at up to 6 monsters. This is a very powerful and very useful mob skill, use it with care!

Magic Crash (Active:Effect)
Importance: ★★ || Pre-requisite: Shout Lv3 || Max Level: 20
Lv1: MP -35, 24% Success rate, Blocks a monster from casting buffs for 8 seconds || MP -15, 100% Success rate, Blocks a monster from casting buffs for 20 seconds
Description: By a certain success rate you debuff an enemy and prevent it from casting new ones. Works especially well on bosses, especially ones that can cast Cancel Weapon/Magic Attack like Zakum, but fairly useless for your training.

Shout (Active:AoE)
Importance: ★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max Level: 20
Lv1: MP -8, 68% Damage on 6 monsters, 57% Success rate to stun for 4 seconds || Lv20: MP -18, 220% Damage on 10 monsters, 95% Success rate to stun for 8 seconds
Description: Damages and possibly stuns monsters within it's Area of Effect. This once useless skill is now an actual AoE skill, allowing you to easily inflict Chance Attack without sacrificing Combo Orbs. However it is a bit difficult to use it as a training skill due to it's relatively short range and low speed.

Brandish (Active:Mob)
Importance: ★★★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max Level: 20
Lv1: MP -15, 183%*2 Damage on 1 monster || Lv20: MP -21, 240%*2 Damage on 3 monsters
Description: Slashes twice up to 3 enemies infront of you when maxed. This amazingly powerful skill is now a 3rd job one. This will be your new main active skill.

-------------------------------

[G0.4.6] Crusader Skills builds (3rd job)

NOTE: Make sure to read the build's description before applying the skills on yourself, a build that suits me or anyone else may not always suit you!

Build 1 - Mobber Build (Recommended)
+15 Brandish (Lv15)
+20 Combo Attack (Lv20, Maxed)
+5 Brandish (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Coma (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Shout (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Chance Attack (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Panic (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Magic Crash (Lv20, Maxed)
+11 Improved MP Recovery (Lv11)
At Lv120 you will have: Lv11 Improved MP Recovery, Lv20 Chance Attack, Lv20 Combo Attack, Lv20 Panic, Lv20 Coma, Lv20 Magic Crash, Lv20 Shout, Lv20 Brandish

Build 2 - Damager Build
+15 Brandish (Lv15)
+20 Combo Attack (Lv20, Maxed)
+5 Brandish (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Coma (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Panic (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Magic Crash (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Shout (Lv20, Maxed)
+20 Chance Attack (Lv20, Maxed)

At Lv120 you will have: Lv11 Improved MP Recovery, Lv20 Chance Attack, Lv20 Combo Attack, Lv20 Panic, Lv20 Coma, Lv20 Magic Crash, Lv20 Shout, Lv20 Brandish

Description: This build offers you massive 1vs1 damage at a lower level and better control over bosses at an earlier stage. You will hardly sacrifice training speed with this build. Good for people who prefer PQing and Bossing over grinding.

-------------------------------

[G0.4.7] Hero Skills Tier (4th job)

Advanced Combo Attack (Passive:Offensive)
Importance: ★★★★★ || Pre-requisite: Lv20 Combo Attack || Max level: 30
Lv1: Max Orbs 5, 5% Damage per orb, 22% Chance to charge two orbs at once || Lv30: Max Orbs 10, 10% Damage per orb, 80% Chance to charge two orbs at once
Description: Improves your Combo Attack skill by increasing the amount of damage that each orb inceases and and the amount of orbs you can charge. This skill will turn your Combo Attack into a monstrosity of damage, definitely your most important skill in this tier.

Achilles (Passive:Defensive)
Importance: ★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max level: 30
Lv1: -0.5% Damage taken from enemies || Lv30: -15% Damage taken from enemies
Description: Decreases by a certain percentage the amount of damage you take from enemies. Good defensive skill, but not very mandatory.

Combat Mastery (Passive:Offensive)

Lv1: Ignores 4% of the enemy's defense || Lv10: Ignores 40% of the enemy's defense
Description: Ignores a certain percentage of your enemy's defense when attacking it. Helpful skill especially against bosses with massive defense like Chaos Bosses and Pink Bean.

Maple Warrior (Supportive:Party)
Importance: ★★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max level: 30
Lv1: MP -10, +1% Allstat for 30 seconds || MP -70, +15% Allstat for 900 seconds
Description: Increases stats by percentage of you and your nearby party members. This skill is available for all jobs, so even if you don't have it, someone in your party probably does. Applying it can be delayed.

Monster Magnet (Active:Mob)
Importance: ★★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max level: 30
Lv1: MP -10, 26% Damage, 1 second stun || Lv30: MP -22, 200% Damage, 5 seconds stun
Description: Pulls 6 monsters upclose to you and stuns them. Pre Big Bang, Rush was better than Monster Magnet in any possible way. Post Big Bang, with 100% to stun rate used in conjunction with Chance Attack this skill is extremely helpful for your training, it does not replace Rush, you will use both at different situations. Do not put more than one point into it.

Power Stance (Supportive:Solo)
Importance: ★★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max level: 30
Lv1: MP -30, 32% chance to avoid being knocked back for 10 seconds || Lv30: MP -60, 90% chance to avoid being knocked back for 300 seconds
Description: By a certain success rate, you will not be knocked back when a monster attacks you. Especially good for bossing, but helps in grinding too.

Rush (Active:Mob)
Importance: ★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max level: 30
Lv1: MP -20, 134% Damage || Lv30: MP -47, 250% Damage.
Description: Dashes forward and pushes back up to 15 monsters to the same spot, great for controlling your mobs and pinning non stationary bosses like Papulatus and Scarlion, but it is not necessary to put more than one point into it.

Intrepid Slash (Active:Mob)
Importance: ★★★★★ || Pre-requisite: -- || Max level: 30
Lv1: MP -15, 152%*3 Damage || Lv30: MP -24, 210%*3 Damage
Description: Slashes twice up to 3 enemies infront of you 3 times. View it as an enhanced version of Brandish, this skill will now serve as main active skill.

Enrage (Active:Effect)
Importance: ★★★ || Pre-requisite: Lv30 Advanced Combo Attack || Max level: 30
Lv1: MP -14, +2% Damage for 64 seconds || Lv30: MP -24, 60% Damage for 180 seconds
Description: Sacrifice 10 Combo orbs to mark a single target that will now recieve an additional percentage of damage by your attack for a certain amount of time. Amazing and mandatory skill for bossing, useless for grinding.

-------------------------------

[G0.5] Training References

NOTE: It is not advised to train at maps that contain monsters more than a few levels above you. High miss rate will significantly slow down your training speed!

Legend:
% - Fast training; definitely advised to train here.
% - Slow training; you should have a different reason to train here other than fast EXP, like money making.
P - Unpopular map; finding an available map would be easy at any time.
P - Popular map; finding a map could be difficult during rush hours, x2 EXP events and weekends, especially if you play in a busy server.
$ - Profitable; you will make a decent amount of money by training here.
$ - Unprofitable; bad drops or potion burning can make this place a bit difficult on your pocket.
