Windows 7 Quick Launch Toolbar ____________________________________
Windows 7 abolished the Quick Launch toolbar that sits next to the Start Menu by default. You can re-create this bar.
1. Right-click and unpin all the shortcuts on your taskbar.
- Spoiler:
2. Right-click on any empty portion of your taskbar, go to Toolbars, and hit New toolbar...
- Spoiler:
3. A window will prompt you to select a folder. Select a location on your hard drive for your new toolbar shortcuts to live. Make a new folder called Quick Launch if you want. Keep in mind that your toolbar will have the same name as this folder.
- Spoiler:
4. A new toolbar should appear on your taskbar. To add shortcuts to the new bar, either drag shortcuts into it, or paste shortcuts into the toolbar's folder (Quick Launch if you named it that).
5. To move the toolbar, you will have to unlock your taskbar (it's on lock by default). Right-click the taskbar again and uncheck Lock the taskbar. You can now freely move your toolbars within the taskbar.
- Spoiler:
6. To remove the Quick Launch label (or whatever you named it) and the shortcut text, right click on the new toolbar and uncheck Show Text and Show title.
- Spoiler:
7. Lock the toolbar again and you're done!
If you decide to hide this new toolbar, you'll have to re-select the toolbar's folder in the New toolbar... window and have to move and size the toolbar again.
